Registered Nurse
The Lutheran High School Association of St. Louis is seeking to hire a Registered Nurse at its Lutheran North Middle and High School campus. About this position:
- Must possess a valid Registered Nurse License issued by the Missouri State Board of Nursing.
Summary of Duties and Areas of Responsibilities: Provide leadership in coordinating, managing, and monitoring health services within the school for students, staff, and community as well as assisting in any medical emergencies/crises.
- Establish and maintain confidential health records, inputting data into the student information system.
- Continuously monitor immunization compliance of all students and complete annual reports.
- Identify and recommend exclusion of students and staff in the early stages of communicable disease.
- Work with school administration to address attendance issues related to health issues.
- Initiate individual health plan (IHP) for students to assist school personnel to meet special health care needs and monitor those special care procedures.
- Work collaboratively with teachers, staff, administrators, and families to identify and provide for areas of need related to health issues.
- Administer medication in accordance with school policy.
- Provide training for staff to administer medications as needed (i.e. field trips) as well as education related to student health issues.
- Maintain close communication with parents of students with ongoing health needs or issues.
- Act as liaison between school/family/ medical providers as needed.
- Provide health counseling on request to students, parents, and staff.
- Refer students/families requiring intervention or treatment to outside agencies or resources.
- Serve as a member of wellness/health-related committees within the school.
- Ensure an unlicensed assistive person is trained in basic first aid, medication administration, and common procedures as backup for the RN.
- Order and maintain health supplies, within the allotted budget.
- Coordinate with the athletic trainer to manage injuries and illness experienced by athletes.
- Assisting in the maintenance of the AED’s located on campus.
Qualifications:
- Must be a graduate of an accredited nursing program. BSN preferred.
- Prefer experience with skills that have application to school nursing.
- Prefer experience in pediatric/community health/psych.
- Certification in CPR including AED.
